Dr RV Hara Prasad inaugurates ICISSGT-2026 in Visakhapatnam
Dr RV Hara Prasad, Director General (Naval Systems & Materials) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), inaugurated the two-day IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Systems, Smart & Green Technologies (ICISSGT-2026) on February 6 in Visakhapatnam.
The conference, jointly organised by the Naval Science and Technology Laboratory (NSTL), DRDO, and IEEE Vizag Bay Section, seeks to promote indigenisation, self-reliance, and interdisciplinary innovation to address future defence and dual-use technology needs.
According to a tweet from DRDO’s official X handle, “Dr R V Hara Prasad, DG(NS&M), DRDO today inaugurated two days IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Systems, Smart & Green Technologies (ICISSGT-2026) being organised by NSTL, DRDO and IEEE jointly at Visakhapatnam during 6-7 Feb 2026. Over 100 delegates from DRDO, academia, industry experts and researchers scholars are participating in the conference. Eminent experts will deliver talks and technical presentations covering defence-oriented and dual-use applications of intelligent, smart and green technologies.”
The organisation added, “Focus of the conference is on indigenisation, self-reliance and interdisciplinary innovation, aligned with national objectives, future defence and dual use technology requirements.”
Separately, the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile ‘Agni-3’ was successfully test-fired from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha, on the same day. The launch validated all operational and technical parameters and was conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command, as stated in a Ministry of Defence release.
DRDO also successfully demonstrated Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur off the coast of Odisha at approximately 10:45 am on February 3, 2026. According to the release, this success places India among an elite group of nations with this technology, which enables development of long-range air-to-air missiles that provide a tactical advantage.
All subsystems, including the Nozzle-less Booster, Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet motor, and Fuel Flow Controller, performed as expected after initial propulsion by a ground booster motor to the desired Mach number.
