Boulder-area cone zones for June 6-12

Boulder

• 28th Street improvements — Pearl to Iris: Intermittent lane closures for intersection work at the 28th Street/Glenwood Drive intersection.

• U.S. 36 curb ramp replacement: This project will improve existing curb ramps, push buttons and signals, gutters and sidewalks. 24/7 single lane closures and shoulder closures within each working area will take place 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Curb ramps will be temporarily inaccessible while upgrades are being made. The project is expected to last until June 15.

• WT excavating: Phased road closures along Ponca and Pawnee from Sioux to Thunderbird will take place so crews can perform a water main relocation. Work will occur 7 a.m.-3 p.m. through Aug. 5.

• Broadway and Regent intersection project: Daily lane closures anticipated to be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. through Jan 1, 2027. 24-hour northbound lane closure through Friday. Project will improve bus travel time and reliability and safety and accessibility for all travelers.

• 63rd Street and Jay Road intersection: The city of Boulder is repaving 63rd Street from Twin Lakes Road to just north of Valmont Road at Boulder Creek. Work is expected to take place 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Following the full closure, travelers can expect single-lane closures into mid-June.

Boulder County

• Colo. 119 safety, mobility and bikeway construction: CDOT work on Colo. 119 / Diagonal Highway. This project is anticipated to be completed in spring 2027.

• Baseline Road closure: Baseline Road will have daytime, weekday lane closures between Cherryvale Road and North 75th Street for a utility relocation project taking place near the Dry Creek Trailhead.

• 120th Street reconstruction: Expect narrow travel lanes and reduced speeds between Overlook Drive and the south entrance to Rock Creek Circle during this phase of work. Phase 2 will require a full-time closure of 120th Street in both directions between Overlook Drive and Dillon Road. The closure will be in place for up to five months, weather permitting. Detours will be established to Colo. 287.

Longmont

• Pace Street improvements: The project between Ninth Avenue and 17th Avenue will rehabilitate and widen the asphalt, make walking and biking easier, and upgrade the street’s drainage. At least one lane of traffic on Pace Street will be open in each direction at all times during construction. Temporary driveway closures will be required at Pace Street access points. Property owners will be notified prior to any closures. Construction hours are 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. weekdays. There may be times when work is required on the weekends due to weather and other factors. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2026.

Erie

• Jay Road: A westbound lane of Jay Road near the Cheesman Street and County Line Road intersection is closed through June 10 for fiber activation work. Drivers should expect traffic control in the area and plan for minor delays.

• Flora View Drive and Weld County Road 5 concrete and asphalt work: Lane closures on Flora View Drive and WCR 5 for concrete and asphalt work, with full closures on WCR 5 north of Flora View Drive starting after schools release for the summer. The project is projected to finish in early July, weather permitting.

• 111th and Arapahoe Road intersection paving: The intersection of 111th and Arapahoe Road is scheduled to begin paving Monday, weather permitting, and is expected to take three days. Significant delays and congestion are expected during this time. Motorists are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes if possible. Anticipated work hours are 7 a.m.-5 p.m. for the duration of the intersection paving. Alternate routes may include the parallel roads of Erie Parkway and Colo. 7.

Frederick

• Colorado 52 improvements: The highway will be closed to all traffic just east of Weld County Road 21 while crews replace a drainage pipe beneath the highway. Due to the deep excavations required within a narrow work zone, a full highway closure is necessary to safely install the large pipe. Closure is expected from 7 p.m. June 12 to 5 a.m. June 15.

• Colorado 52 improvements: The Colorado Department of Transportation is resurfacing the highway between I-25 and U.S. 85. Work includes replacing worn pavement in travel lanes, turn lanes, and shoulders, as well as additional safety upgrades, such as bridge repairs, drainage improvements, and guardrail enhancements. Night work will be from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday. Night work is occurring only east of Ridgeway Boulevard. Expect occasional daytime lane closures and weekend work. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules may change. Construction is expected to be completed in December.
