Winter Olympics 2026: Quentin Fillon Maillet exclusive on his “complicated” time post-Beijing 2022, and why he loves Milano-Cortina 2026 biathlon venue

“Since the start of my career, we’ve gone there every year for the World Cup and also for World Championships, so it’s a site I know well,” he says.

“I really like Milano-Cortina because it brings us to a historic biathlon venue with knowledgeable fans, which I really appreciate.

“The course itself doesn’t have huge technical difficulties, but it requires a very steady, continuous effort, with small descents and climbs.

“One challenge is the altitude — it’s harder to breathe, which makes shooting slightly harder than at other venues, and the finish isn’t easy either.

“But the scenery is beautiful, with the Italian mountains around, and it promises to be an amazing Olympic Games.”
