Scottie Scheffler’s active PGA Tour streak reaches a level Tiger Woods never did

Scottie Scheffler is an exceptional talent, and the comparisons with Tiger Woods underline just how high his current level sits.
Scheffler is the closest the sport has come to Woods since the 15-time major champion’s prime.

At 29, the American has already claimed 20 PGA Tour titles, including four major championships in the past four years.
Reaching Woods’ career totals remains a daunting task. His 82 PGA Tour victories and 15 major titles still stand as the ultimate benchmarks in the men’s game.
Yet, for the current world number one, closing that gap cannot be dismissed entirely. Scheffler’s sustained excellence keeps the conversation alive.
Perhaps Woods’ most remarkable achievement is his run of 142 consecutive PGA Tour cuts made. Scheffler’s own streak now sits at 66 and remains intact.
The Dallas native is also on another impressive active run – one that, notably, Woods never came close to matching during his career.

He finished his third round of the WM Phoenix Open with a five-under 67, moving to eight-under for the tournament.
Scheffler finds himself tied for 16th heading into the final round.
If he manages a top-10 finish in Phoenix, it would mark his 17th straight on the PGA Tour.
Tiger Woods had an impressive run of 11 consecutive top-10s between 2007 and 2008. Scheffler has already passed that mark, currently sitting on 16 (or 17 if you count the Hero World Challenge).
Even so, he still has a long way to go to catch up with Byron Nelson’s record streak. Nelson posted an incredible 65 straight top-10s between 1942 and 1946.

Ben Hogan holds the second spot on this distinguished list with 27 finishes, while Scheffler is currently third. Jack Nicklaus is fourth with 13 consecutive top-10 finishes, a feat he achieved twice, and Woods rounds out the top five.
Scottie Scheffler closing in on another top-10 finish
Since finishing outside the top 10 at the 2025 Players Championship, the 29-year-old American has rarely missed a beat.
There is a case to be made that consistency is Scheffler’s greatest strength, though that might not fully capture just how good he has been.
This week at TPC Scottsdale, for instance, he has not exactly been at his best. Still, he has put together three solid rounds.

It is worth noting that the opening round did not go his way – far from it, in fact. And yet, here he is with a realistic shot at another top 10.
Scheffler may never match Woods’ record of 82 PGA Tour wins or his 15 major championships.
But where consistency is concerned, no one on tour right now comes close. And with one more strong round in Phoenix, he could push his current run to an incredible 17 straight.
