The Winter Olympics medal count and current country standings

More than 2,900 athletes – including 206 Canadians – are vying for 116 gold medals and chasing their Olympic dreams at the Milan Cortina Winter Games.

Canada is looking to beat its four-gold, 26-medal performance in Beijing in 2022, where Norway’s 14 gold medals set the record for most ever at a Winter Olympics.

The banning of Russia from the Games over its invasion of Ukraine – which began just days after the 2022 Winter Olympics closed – has also opened up space for the United States and other countries competing to top the medal tally.
