Countryfile’s Julia Bradbury has given an update on her health while in the middle of receiving medical attention. The 55-year-old spoke to her Instagram followers while wearing a jumper and jeans, with one sleeve pushed up to show a cannula inserted into her arm.

The mother-of-two explained: “I’m having a little immune-boosting IV. We’ve got vitamin C, we’ve got minerals, we’ve got amino acids, I think that’s it. I’m just going to chill, I’m going to let all the good stuff flow through me.”

The NHS states that IV therapy represents the quickest method of delivering medications and fluids into the body, working by infusing them directly into a vein via injection or drip. These medicated fluids are typically administered to people involved in accidents, those prohibited from eating or drinking due to antibiotics, post-surgery patients, and people losing fluids, salts or sugars faster than they can be replenished, reports the Express.

Her health update comes days after Julia became emotional while reflecting on her cancer diagnosis from five years ago.

The former Countryfile host previously underwent a mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction to remove a 6cm tumour, followed by chemotherapy treatment.

While filming for the new ITV series Julia Bradbury’s Wonders Of The Frozen South, the TV presenter was visibly moved as she arrived at Paradise Harbour on Antarctica’s western edge: “That’s when the tears started to roll down my face. After a breast cancer diagnosis and mastectomy in 2021, I didn’t think I’d ever be brave enough to leave the safety of my home and family to do something like this again.”

“I was so weak physically, and so emotionally raw, that the idea of testing myself, of making this kind of TV show and being so far away from my partner and our children seemed impossible.”

Julia told the MailOnline: “The sky was pink in the Antarctic summer, there were icebergs on the horizon and a solitary humpback whale, idling about and blowing spouts.”

“I was sitting there thinking: ‘When I’m old, this is something I want to tell my grandchildren about’ and that made me realise that I was living my second life, the one after cancer, to the full.”
