Accrington have joined the ranks of League Two playoff chasers thanks to a three-game winning streak and their progress can continue by avoiding defeat at 12th-placed Grimsby (7.45pm kick-off).
Last season was tough going for Stanley, who fought against relegation and finished 21st, the club’s lowest league position since promotion to the EFL in 2006.
However, owner Andy Holt stuck by Accrington manager John Doolan and his faith has been rewarded.
Stanley are positioned five points outside the top seven and have already achieved the same number of league wins (12) as they managed last term.
Doolan’s side face a tricky challenge against Grimsby, who have put together a nine-game unbeaten sequence, but they are capable of matching the Mariners and can emerge from Blundell Park with at least a share of the points.
The only Championship game of the evening sees relegation-threatened Charlton face mid-table Stoke at the Valley.
Injury-hit Stoke could hand a start to attacker Million Manhoef, who shook off a minor injury to feature as a late substitute in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at West Brom.
