Olympic icon Scott Moir admits he talked about Tessa Virtue ‘way too long’ on wedding day

Canadian Olympic fans are well aware of the strong bond between Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue.

The dynamic duo competed in three Winter Olympic Games together, winning gold on three occasions and silver twice. The pair are the most decorated figure skaters in Olympic history.

Though the two announced their retirement from competitive ice dancing in 2019, their historic 22-year run continues to have them attached by the hip.

Though both Moir and Virtue are married, they are still extremely close. In fact, Moir, who married Jaclyn Mascarin in 2022, admitted that he spent far too much time talking about his old figure-skating partner on his wedding day.

“I always say that my marriage is easy because of the lessons I learned with Tess,” Moir said in an interview with Skate Ontario. “I always say that I spent way too long on my wedding day talking about Tess for anybody who didn’t understand Jackie and I’s relationship.

“I kind of feel like everything Tess and I went through, there’s no way I would have deserved a woman like Jackie if I hadn’t had those experiences.”

Virtue, meanwhile, is married to Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly. The two secretly wed in the summer of 2023 before revealing it to the public in early 2024. The couple welcomed their son, McCormick, in August of 2024.

Moir and his wife have two children of their own. Their daughter, Emma, was born in 2021, while they welcomed a son, George Earl, in 2024.

Moir continues to be very involved in the figure skating world, serving as a coach for both Canada and the US. Virtue has moved on to other ventures, but said that she is “cheering for the coach now” in an interview with CP24.
