Milano Cortina 2026: Team Canada at the end of Day 4

MILAN (February 10, 2026) – Day 4 at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games has come to a close. Here’s what you need to know.

TEAM CANADA DAY 4 MOMENTS:

ALPINE SKIING

  • Team Canada competed in the Olympic debut of the women’s team combined event, which features one team member doing a downhill run and then their teammate doing a slalom run.
  • Valérie Grenier (St-Isidore, Ont.) and Laurence St-Germain (Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges, Que.) finished the event in 13th.

FIGURE SKATING

  • Stephen Gogolev (Toronto, Ont.) has advanced to the men’s free skate, which will take place on Day 7 (February 13). He finished 10th in the men’s short program.

FREESTYLE SKIING – MOGULS

  • Maïa Schwinghammer (Saskatoon, Sask.) and Laurianne Desmarais-Gilbert (Sainte-Adèle, Que.), who finished sixth and eighth, advanced to the women’s moguls finals.
  • Ashley Koehler (Lac-Beauport, Que.) and Jessica Linton (Vancouver, B.C.) will compete in the women’s second qualification run on Day 5 (February 11) to try and earn a spot in the finals later that day. 
  • On the men’s side, Julien Viel (Quebec City, Que.) and Mikaël Kingsbury (Deux-Montagnes, Que.), who finished second and third, respectively, earned a bye to the men’s moguls final.
  • Elliot Vaillancourt (Drummondville, Que.) will compete in the second men’s qualification run on Day 6 (February 12) to try and secure a spot in the finals later that day.  

HOCKEY – WOMEN’S 

  • Team Canada’s women’s team fell to Team USA 5-0. Next up, Canada will play its postponed game against Team Finland on Day 6 (February 12) to close out preliminary round play.

SHORT TRACK SPEED SKATING

  • Team Canada has won its first short track speed skating medal at Milano Cortina 2026, taking silver in the mixed relay.
  • It is Canada’s first Olympic medal in the mixed relay, an event that was added to the program four years ago at Beijing 2022.
  • This is the fifth career Olympic medal for Kim Boutin (Sherbrooke, Que.), making her Canada’s most-decorated female short track speed skater. It was the first Olympic medal of her career earned in a team event.
  • Steven Dubois (Terrebonne, Que.) now has four Olympic medals.
  • This is the first Olympic medal for William Dandjinou (Montreal, Que.), Courtney Sarault (Moncton, N.B.) and Félix Roussel (Sherbrooke, Que.).
