Connecticut Sun vs. Chicago Sky Odds: WNBA Preview and Prediction

Connecticut sits 7-21, while Chicago is 9-18.

The season series is tied 1-1, with each team winning comfortably on its home floor. Chicago claimed an 85-80 victory on June 5 behind 24 points from Skylar Diggins, while Connecticut responded with a dominant 92-63 win on June 22 after holding the Sky to just 13% shooting from three-point range.

Sun vs. Sky WNBA Odds and Betting Trends

Point Spread: Sun +3.5 (-110) vs. Sky -3.5 (-110)
Money Line: Sun (+140) vs. Sky (-171)
Point Total (Over/Under): Over 171.5 / Under 171.5 (-110)

Oddsmakers are expecting another competitive matchup, but the total stands out. Each of Chicago’s last six games, all played without Diggins, has comfortably cleared this number, while four of Connecticut’s last five contests have also gone over the total.

Both teams rank near the bottom of the league defensively and commit plenty of fouls, creating extra scoring opportunities for opponents at the free-throw line. Expect another game played at a solid pace with plenty of points.

Connecticut Sun

The Sun have struggled all season but continue to compete on the glass and force turnovers at one of the highest rates in the league. Connecticut ranks second in forcing turnovers and does a strong job limiting second-chance points, fast-break opportunities and paint scoring despite its overall record.

The biggest issue remains the offence. The Sun rank last in three-point shooting at just 29% and sit 15th in offensive rating. They have also dropped three consecutive road games, each by at least eight points, and own a disappointing 3-11 road record entering Thursday’s matchup

Chicago Sky

Chicago has quietly played better basketball despite remaining near the bottom of the standings. The Sky are 2-2 over their last four games, with narrow losses coming against two of the league’s top teams in New York and Atlanta by a combined three points. They’ll once again be without Diggins, whose absence leaves a significant playmaking void, but several other contributors are expected back in the lineup. Chicago continues to get to the free-throw line at one of the highest rates in the WNBA and has been one of the league’s better teams at protecting the basketball.

Defensively, the Sky also lead the league in limiting opponents’ three-point shooting, a favourable matchup against Connecticut’s struggling perimeter offence.

WNBA Prediction: Who Will Win Sun vs. Sky?

This projects as another close contest, but Chicago has the slight edge playing at home. While Connecticut should once again create turnovers and control the rebounding battle, the Sky have been playing more competitive basketball recently and have consistently found enough offence to stay in games despite missing Diggins.

The stronger recent form makes Chicago the side, but the best bet is the over. Both teams have consistently played in high-scoring games lately, and with each club fouling frequently and struggling defensively, another game int

Prediction: Chicago Sky 89, Connecticut Sun 84
