Larry and Nancy Feldman drove to Lake Placid to see the underdog American college team face the Soviet professionals. They didn’t know their tickets would be for such a pivotal game.
“We didn’t know that we were going to be seeing that game when we bought the tickets,” said Nancy Feldman. “It was just pure luck, really.”
Larry Feldman recalled the intense atmosphere, saying, “The electricity when in the third period when it was tied… I could see it on his face. It lifted those kids.”
“Larry started out with a jacket, a shirt, a tee shirt and he had stripped down to his tee shirt. I thought he was going to have a heart attack,” Nancy recalled.

The Feldmans kept their ticket stubs and collected autographed photos from the event. However, they misplaced these treasures during a move.
“I had just put it in a filing cabinet, but I had forgotten where I put it,” Nancy said.
“She came upstairs twenty years later, and she said, honey I found it. I found it,” Larry said.
The Feldmans’ story continues with how they got the American hockey heroes to sign their memorabilia, which will be shared on NewsChannel 13 at 5.
