Body found in Willamette River near Steel Bridge

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – A body was recovered from the Willamette River in downtown Portland early Friday morning.
At about 7:40 a.m., Portland Fire & Rescue crews responded to a possible water rescue near the Steel Bridge. PF&R said crews arrived to the area and found a person dead in the water just north of the bridge.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office responded to help with the recovery of the body.
The sheriff’s office said the circumstances of how the person ended up in the water are not known at this time.
The medical examiner’s office will determine the identity of the individual and cause of death.
No other details have been released at this time.
