Tens of thousands of jars of peanut butter recalled for containing ‘foreign material’

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Tens of thousands of jars of peanut butter were recalled after the FDA learned the product may contain “foreign material.”

The Food and Drug Administration issued a recall for three peanut butter products due to the possible presence of “foreign material” described as “pieces of blue plastic.”

The product was sold in 40 states nationwide, including Ohio and Indiana. Although the recall was initiated in 2025, it was reclassified to Class II, the second-highest risk classification, on February 12.

The affected products were manufactured by Ventura Foods but were sold under multiple names and in multiple varieties. The full list of affected products can be found in the recall report.

The FDA did not include a remedy for the recall, but customers should not consume any product that may have been recalled, and can get a refund by returning it to the place of purchase.
