Brazil’s first Winter Olympic gold medalist has a message worth listening to

CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy — Across the Dolomites from this little village on Saturday, Lucas Pinheiro Braathen won a ski race. That’s what the results will report from Bormio, the resort that is hosting the men’s Alpine events at these Milan Cortina Olympics. They’ll say that in the giant slalom, Braathen laid down a blistering first run, and with snow falling during the second, he hung on to beat the great Swiss, Marco Odermatt. Gold. Gold for — Brazil?
