X/Twitter Goes Down Again, Thousands of Users Issue Report Outages

X, the social networking site formerly known as Twitter, was yet again suffering from technical problems Monday preventing users from accessing the service.
There were nearly 43,000 user error reports as of 8:34 a.m. ET on uptime-monitoring site Downdetector.com on Monday (Feb. 16). About 53% of the user submissions indicated the problems were with the app, with 21% citing timeline issues, and the remainder saying there were website accessibility problems.
Users encountered error messages trying to access X, including one that read, “Something went wrong, but don’t fret — it’s not your fault.” Another said, “Something went wrong. Try reloading.”
The X Developer Platform site’s incident history log on Monday did not indicate any recent problems.
Within about an hour of the initial problem reports, service on X appeared to be restored for many users. However, at around 1 p.m. ET Monday, X again was displaying error messages and failing to display timelines, while users also were unable to post to the platform. The second wave of technical issues seemed to have cleared up in less than an hour.
X, which Elon Musk acquired in October 2022, has experience multiple service disruptions in recent months, although many of the outages have been resolved relatively swiftly. In November 2025, a widespread outage lasted nearly 3 hours. That came after other incidents including rolling outages on March 10, 2025, which Musk blamed on “a massive cyberattack” against the platform.
