Two-man bobsleigh LIVE – Team GB look to medal after late change

Team GB finished well out of the medals back in 12th place in the two-man bobsleigh at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, live on TNT Sports and discovery+.Taylor Lawrence and Brad Hall were in eighth place after the first two heats, but after Leon Greenwood was called up to partner Hall for the final two heats, with Lawrence missing out as a precautionary measure, they dropped to 12th place in the final standings. 

Germany repeated their clean sweep from Beijing and occupied the top three spots in the standings from the first heat with the team of Johannes Lochner and Georg Fleischhauer a dominant force, winning by 1.34 seconds. Three times they finished in under 55 seconds, the only team to do so, and set a track record of 54.68 in the first heat.

They were the only team to go under 55 seconds in any of the runs and did so again with 54.91, ending on 3:39.70 fully 1.34 seconds in front of the field.

Friedrich and Schuller will see if the top boys have a disaster, but they have fulfilled their remit, as a 55.33 run comfortably has them 0.48 seconds above their compatriots.

We will have a German top three. Ammour and Schaller did not beat the American time, but only by 0.01 seconds, so ultimately finish 0.44 ahead with 3:41.52.

They better the Romanians with a 55.34 run. They begin the run 0.45 seconds behind the third German duo, so will need a bad run, but have at least given themselves a chance.

They record a Heat 4 best (so far) of 55.53, giving the four teams above them a target of 3:42.37 to beat.

In reality, the gold looks done and dusted for Lochner and Fleischhauer but there is a chance of the bronze medal denying Germany a clean sweep.

They came into Heat 4 in joint-seventh, but Baumgartner and Mircea managed 55.60, edging a sluggish 55.61 from kalenda and Miknis.

They are behind the French and Netherlands, so probably looking at a 12th-place finish after a 56.17 run – the tenth best in Heat 4 so far.

After four heats nothing could split these teams so they are likely to finish in joint 10th with 3:43.32.

Follador and Rolli’s blistering 55.68, the best of the Heat so far, has seen them rise above compatriots, Rohner and Annen by a hundredth of a second.

So you may see more changes in order. The Chinese team of Chunjian Li and Jielong Ye, for instance, have made the quickest time so far in this heat, 55.94, and jumped from 19th to 17th.

Liechtenstein hold onto 20th spot. The Israel team in last place came as close as any team have to a crash, smashing into woodwork a few times and veering up onto one sled but thankfully they came though ok.

With the slower teams going now, Team GB are pretty much guaranteed to go into Heat 4 in ninth spot.

Patrick Baumgartner and Robert Mircea race quicker than the British team and the Latvian outfit, moving them level in seventh spot with the latter. Britain are down to ninth.

Lochner and Fleischhauer’s 54.89 was the quickest of the three, extending their lead over their compatriots to almost a second.
