United grows footprint at Blue Grass Airport

LEXINGTON, Ky. — United Airlines is growing its presence at Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport, bringing larger aircraft and greater connectivity for central and southeastern Kentucky travelers.

According to a Blue Grass Airport release, United plans to increase the size of its aircraft on its popular daily flight between Lexington and Denver, upgrading to an Airbus A319 with 126 seats. This equates to more than 50 additional seats per day, the airport said.
Whether to Denver or other destinations in the western U.S., Canada or beyond, the goal is to provide more Kentuckians the opportunity to travel. The Blue Grass Airport said United will begin operating this larger aircraft May 21.
Similarly, the airport said United plans to increase the number of daily flights between Lexington and Chicago, offering up to seven daily flights this summer during peak travel periods. Tickets to Denver and Chicago are on sale now on United’s website and in the United mobile app.

The Blue Grass Airport serves more than 1.6 million passengers annually, with a total economic output exceeding $709 million.
