KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – A driver is dead following a multi-vehicle crash on I-40 Thursday afternoon, according to the Knoxville Police Department.
It happened around 4:50 p.m. on I-40 West near Cedar Bluff Road.
KPD said a car was stopped for traffic when it was rear-ended by another car. A third car then crashed into the second car, setting off a chain-reaction crash.
A large pickup truck then drove into, and on top of, one of the car’s involved. The driver of that car died from his injuries. His identity has not been released.
According to KPD, five vehicles were involved in the crash. KPD is investigating.
