Missing Bay Area skier Colin Kang found dead at Northstar California Resort, marking 3rd death this month

TRUCKEE, Calif. (KGO) — A skier who was reported missing Wednesday night at Northstar California Resort in Truckee was found dead Thursday morning by search crews, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said.

Northstar confirms he was an employee of the resort who was off duty at the time of the incident. Authorities identified the man as 21-year-old Colin Kang of Fremont.

The sheriff’s office said it received a report of a possible missing person Wednesday night around 11 p.m. Deputies located Kang’s vehicle in the Northstar parking lot and determined that the man had gone skiing and did not return as expected.

A search and rescue team was activated early that morning, and Kang was found deceased around 9 a.m. Northstar said Kang was found deceased on the advanced Sugar Pine Glade trail.
