Service on the REM commuter train line was down between the Sunnybrooke and Côte-de-Liesse stations Friday morning after a garbage truck hit a viaduct near the Bois-Franc station.
As of 7 a.m., however, service was gradually resuming across the whole network.
Montreal police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said the collision happened at around 3:30 a.m. when the tuck hit some protective beams on the viaduct on Marcel-Laurin Boulevard north of Henri-Bourassa.

Shuttle buses were deployed in the interim.
Chèvrefils said Marcel-Laurin, which was closed to traffic following the collision, reopened just before 6 a.m.
In November, a truck hit the same viaduct causing minor damage and briefly interrupting train service.
When these types of collisions occur, engineers typically need to assess the structural safety of the viaduct before the trains start running again.
