Flyers Olympic Update: Travis Sanheim, Canada Advances to Semifinals; Dan Vladar

After a heart-stopping overtime game that kept fans on the edges of their seats, Philadelphia Flyers fans will get to see Travis Sanheim, Rick Tocchet, and the rest of Team Canada in the Olympic semifinals. In turn, unfortunately, Dan Vladar and Czechia’s tournament has come to an end.

Vladar did not start in net for the Czechs, instead serving as the backup to Lukas Dostal. Dostal faced a whopping 41 shots on goal, but his team was able to keep Canada on their toes to force extra time. Vegas Golden Knights forward Mitch Marner eventually notched the OT winner to send Canada through on a 4-3 scoreline.

Sanheim dressed for his third straight game for the Canadians, being deployed on the third defensive pair with the St. Louis Blues’ Colton Parayko. Sanheim finished the game with a total ice time of 8:52.

As of publication, Sanheim and fellow defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen, who is representing Finland, are now the only Flyers players left in the Olympics as men’s ice hockey winds down with semifinals being played on Feb. 20, the bronze medal game taking place on Feb. 21, and the gold medal game falling on the very last day of the Olympics, Feb. 22.
