I knew I was gonna be going in the shootout because there’s a lot of stuff on, that came out in the media that that’s one of the reasons I was selected, and so I knew I’d be one of the three shooters.

the summer before in the world championships, I shot five times, and so I kinda knew the rules.
I actually knew the rules better than the coaches when, when we actually got into it.
No one told me anything, so every time we had to go again, I would just look back to the coach, and he would, like, nod his head, like, “Yeah, get out there.”
And so I ended up going out to center ice, chuckling a couple times because I almost felt like I was getting tired, just, like, skating back to the bench.
It’s the coach’s decision.
I was super happy to do it.
I was super comfortable at the time.
I was, clicking pretty good in shootouts.

I also knew it was really early back home, so I didn’t think that many people would be watching.
turns out I was wrong about that, and, people were at the bars rocking and rolling at about 6:00 AM, so amazing experience.
I was super comfortable, and always gotta give a shout-out to Jonathan Quick, who was slamming the door behind me.
