Spoiler alert: This story includes details from the latest episode of HBO’s “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”
Ser Duncan the Tall’s (Peter Claffey) story is far from over.
Ser Duncan may have emerged victorious in the Trial of Seven during the penultimate episode of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”; however, he has yet to face the aftermath of the clash, which left the future king of Westeros, Prince Baelor Targaryen (Bertie Carvel), dead. While it is not yet known how Westeros will deal with the tragedy, especially since it was Prince Maekar Targaryen’s (Sam Spruell) strike that killed Baelor, the event is sure to shake the Seven Kingdoms during the hit HBO show’s finale.
Adapted from author and co-creator George R. R. Martin’s “Tales of Dunk and Egg” novellas, the “Game of Thrones” prequel series takes viewers almost a century before the events of HBO’s former juggernaut.
Co-creator and showrunner Ira Parker previously explained that the series is set between “two shows that everyone has seen and that everyone loves (‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘House of the Dragon’) in a time where Targaryens don’t have their dragons anymore.”
Parker added that, in the new show, the Targaryens are “very much on the decline” and find themselves in this “weird middle place.”
The series has become a hit for HBO with nearly 13 million U.S. viewers clocking in for each episode, according to data shared by the network. Episode 5 alone “delivered a new series high of 9.2 million U.S. cross-platform viewers in its first 3 days of availability,” according to HBO.
HBO added that “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is “pacing to be the third biggest series debut since the launch of HBO Max.”
Here’s what we know so far about Season 2 of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” including an expected release date.
