Canadian lottery player gearing up for an ‘A-OK’ retirement after $5 million win

A Canadian lottery winner is preparing for the next phase of life after he recently won a huge seven-figure jackpot prize.
Jackie L. of Richmond, B.C. scored $5 million on the Lotto 6/49 draw held on Jan. 28, 2026.
The Metro Vancouver resident bought his lottery tickets using PlayNow’s subscription service and won the jackpot with a quick pick.
His windfall won’t stop him from playing, though.

“This means having a nice retirement, and we’ll pay off the mortgage,” Jackie shared when asked what the $5 million prize means to him.
Jackie also added that he looks forward to using his winnings to help his son and grandchildren.
“We will be a-ok,” he added.
The B.C. lottery player explained that the win won’t change his lifestyle, and that he plans to be careful with his jackpot winnings.
