With over 20 inches of snow expected across much of the Northeast due to the nor’easter on Feb. 23, some towns have already announced school closures for Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Those include public schools Barrington, Newport and Warwick in Rhode Island and Barnstable, Falmouth and Halifax in Massachusetts.

Even if your town hasn’t announced a snow day yet, there’s a way to find out if it might.

Snow Day Calculator, made almost 20 years ago by now Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduate David Sukhin, uses your zip code and data from Weather.gov to predict the likelihood of a snow day in your area.

Will I have a snow day tomorrow?

You can use Snow Day Calculator to help predict whether your school will be closed tomorrow.

All you need to do is enter your zip code, the number of snow days this year so far and the type of school.

Then click calculate and see what the percent chance is that you’ll have a snow day.

Predictions are “based on the timing and strength of the snowstorm,” the tool says.
