The Minnesota Wild season will resume on Thursday in Colorado against an division rival Avalanche team that has yet to lose 10 games in regulation this season.

Oh, and their Canadian superstar Nathan MacKinnon is seething to get back on the ice after Jack Hughes handed him a Silver Medal Sunday, when the 24-year-old Olympic rookie-turned-hero potted Team USA’s overtime goal vs Canada that clinched the first American Gold Medal in men’s ice hockey since 1980.

Wild’s Olympic stars finish three-day Gold Medal bender

Since that historic moment in Olympic history, MN Wild stars Quinn Hughes, Matt Boldy and Brock Faber have been in full-celebration mode, along with the rest of their Team USA teammates.

The party started in the American locker room out in Milan Sunday, immediately after the victory. By Monday afternoon, they had touched down in South Beach, where the celebration only went harder.

Tuesday morning, President Trump sent Air Force One to pick the Olympic Gold Medalists up at Miami Airport and fly them to Washington DC so they could visit the White House and attend his State of the Union Address.

And now, it’s Wednesday, meaning some Team USA players have NHL games on the schedule for tonight. Others won’t get back on their “day job” ice until tomorrow. Thankfully, the Wild’s new Gold Medalists fall into the latter category.

Nonetheless, Hughes, Faber and Boldy still have to pick up the pieces from their three day bender and rejoin their Minnesota Wild teammates on the other the country, in Denver, CO, in order to prepare for an incredibly important divisional matchup vs the Avs tomorrow.

Craig Leipold flying Minnesota Wild stars back to Twin Cities

And understandably, Wild owner Craig Leipold is getting a bit antsy for his young stars’ return. And when you are a rich billionaire, it’s much easier to ease such anxieties.

That’s why, Wednesday morning, Leipold is sending his private plane to Washington DC, to fetch Hughes, Faber and Boldy in time to board the team charter this afternoon back in the Twin Cities.

Combined, Matt Boldy, Quinn Hughes and Brock Faber combined for over 72 minutes of ice time per game and 130 points on the season… and that’s with only 26 games out of Hughes — who led Team USA in points during the Olympics (8). Will he be that guy on Thursday, after three days of hard celebration? We’ll soon find out.
