Events across the region to celebrate St David’s Day

Sunday marks St David’s Day and the beginning of March.
At 14:00, a special St David’s Day talk will be held at The Brampton Museum in Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire, by Stuart Haywood, the author of the Welsh in North Staffordshire.
Haywood is the current chairman of The Stoke-on-Trent & District Welsh Society and has undertaken extensive research into the migration of Welsh people to north Staffordshire, chiefly during the Victorian era, which was used to compile his book.
His presentation will concentrate on the locations within north Staffordshire where the migrants settled, their incentives to move there, and how the communities were set up.
Also on Sunday, a concert will be held at Cradley Church in Cradley, Herefordshire, at 15:00, featuring the Malvern Male Voice Choir and the harpist Shelley Fairplay.
Tickets cost £18, including refreshments, with all proceeds shared equally between Cradley Church and Cradley Village Hall.
Finally, a St David’s Day concert will be held on Saturday 7 March from 19:00 – 21:30, St Oswald’s Church in Oswestry, Shropshire.
This will feature the Fron Male Voice Choir joined by Lleisiau’r Afon.
