These are the road closures for upcoming half marathon in Newport

The route will see a number of traffic changes to ensure the safety of runners and marshals.

Organisers have indicated that all roads along the marathon’s path will be managed and any restrictions will be kept to a minimum.

Full closures will be in place on Heidenheim Drive near Sainsbury’s from 6am to 9.30am, transitioning to a single lane closure until noon.

Meanwhile, runners who don’t reach the 9-mile mark at Sainsbury’s by midday will be diverted to pavements, allowing traffic back onto the road in time for lunch.

The following areas will experience full closure for the event: Usk Way for the marathon’s start, Usk Way/Spytty Road (SDR Bridge), Corporation Road – including all roads leading off (miles 2-3), Clarence Road – Newport Bridge, Caerleon Road – Bank Street (mile 4), Stockton Road, Haisbro Road – Caerleon Road, Caerleon Bridge (mile 6), and Cold Bath Road Pilmawr Road to River path (mile 8).

Other affected areas comprise of the Sainsburys roundabout (mile 9), Heidenheim Drive A4042 Newport City Footbridge (mile 10), the bottom of Corporation Road East Dock Road (mile 12), with the race set to finish on the Riverfront Pathway.

Support for the event has been requested from the local community, with disruptions anticipated to last only as long as necessary for runners to pass through.
