Why Hailee Steinfeld Skipped the 2026 Actor Awards

Hailee Steinfeld, just weeks away from welcoming her first child with husband Josh Allen (the quarterback of the Buffalo Bills), appeared to skip the Actor Awards this evening. Steinfeld, who is nominated alongside the cast of Sinners, likely did not attend the awards ceremony due to the imminent arrival of her baby.

“The most profound and grounding part of getting ready for this baby has been the introspective side of it: the quiet conversations I’m having with myself almost every day,” Steinfeld recently wrote in her newsletter. “Sometimes I find myself asking big, lofty questions (what am I going to be like as a mom?) or having vivid daydreams of what our life is about to look like when the three of us are cuddled up in the nursery together.”

She continued, “While tuning in, I’ve experienced this surreal, full-body awareness that our world is about to expand in beautiful ways. We’re getting ready to meet someone we already love so much. I’ve racked my brain for words to describe that feeling, and I don’t have them yet. Maybe that’s the point. For now, I’m blessed to be settling into the feeling.”

The actress last stepped out at the Golden Globes, cradling her baby bump on the red carpet in a pink Prada gown and wearing Repossi jewelry.

Steinfeld attended the Globes solo, as it took place on the same evening Allen was competing in a playoffs game. “I’ve got siblings that have kids, I’ve got a lot of friends that have kids. I don’t know if you can plan too far in advance,” Allen said of preparing to be a father. “So I’m very much looking forward to that with my wife, of becoming a dad. It’s something that I will take with great pride. And we’re going to have to figure things out on the go, just like anything else.”
