“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is building out its Season 2 cast.
Variety has learned that Lucy Boynton (“A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story,” “Bohemian Rhapsody”), Babou Ceesay (“Alien: Earth,” “Damilola, Our Loved Boy”), and Peter Mullan (“Ozark,” “I Swear”) have joined the “Game of Thrones” prequel’s upcoming second season.
The news comes just over a week since the Season 1 finale. “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” was renewed for Season 2 back in November 2025 ahead of the series premiere. The second season will follow the story of the second Dunk & Egg book, “The Sworn Sword.” Boynton will play Lady Rohanne, while Ceesay will play Ser Bennis. Mullan will play Ser Eustace Osgrey.
Boynton is repped by United Agents, CAA, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Ceesay is repped by The Artists Partnership, Entertainment 360, and Granderson Des Rochers. Mullan is repped by Markham, Froggatt & Irwin.
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg. The show is set roughly 100 years before the events of the mothership show. It is based on George RR Martin’s “Tales of Dunk and Egg” novellas.
The show received strong critical acclaim upon its debut, with the first season holding a 94% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Both Claffey and Ansell earned praise for their performances, while “Game of Thrones” fans also took to the show’s more intimate storylines, shorter episode runtimes, and its shorter, six-episode season.
Martin co-created the series with Ira Parker, with both serving as executive producers. Parker is also the showrunner. Additional executive producers include Sarah Bradshaw, Owen Harris, Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis.
