First Alert Weather: Rain, storms possible this weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – THE NEXT 24 HOURS: Overnight, we remain dry with lows in the 50s. Around sunrise Thursday, some low clouds and patchy fog may develop. The day itself stays mostly dry, with the sky becoming partly sunny, and we’ll see another big warm-up with afternoon highs near 80.
Tomorrow(WBRC)
THE WEEKEND: On Friday, a few isolated showers or storms will be possible, but much of the day will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine. It will feel very spring-like again, with highs near record levels in the 80s.
Future Radar(WBRC)
The more organized severe weather threat will remain well west of Alabama through Friday. By Saturday, a weakening line of rain and storms is expected to move into our area. We’re not expecting organized severe weather at this time, but we’ll still need to stay alert for storms capable of producing lightning Saturday afternoon and evening.
That system looks to stall nearby, and as we heat back up on Sunday, scattered showers and a few storms may try to redevelop. Highs this weekend will hold in the upper 70s and low 80s.
Daylight Saving Time Begins(WBRC)
Remember, we spring forward Sunday as Daylight Saving Time begins.
THE NEXT BIG THING: We’re keeping a close watch on next Wednesday for the potential of a First Alert Weather Day. Forecast data continues to point to a pattern change, bringing in some cooler air later next week. Ahead of that, we may see a more organized round of storms sometime in the Wednesday–Thursday timeframe. We’ll fine-tune the details over the coming days, so stay with the First Alert Weather team and check in for updates on WBRC.
