Tom Aspinall signs with Eddie Hearn for representation in midst of Dana White feud

Dana White took Conor Benn. So Eddie Hearn is taking Tom Aspinall – sort of.

In a shocking turn of events, Hearn and Aspinall announced Thursday they are in business with one another. Aspinall has signed with Hearn’s Matchroom Talent Agency, seemingly for representation.

Aspinall hasn’t fought since a UFC 321 title defense vs. Ciryl Gane in October ended in a no contest due to eye poke. Aspinall has since struggled with the damage, undergoing multiple surgeries. It’s unclear what the promotion’s plans are for Aspinall at this time.

It’s also not publicly known if Aspinall, the current UFC heavyweight champion, has a timeline for return.

How did White and Hearn’s relationship go south?

Prior to White’s launch of Zuffa Boxing, White and Hearn propped one another up, expressing their mutual respect. These comments existed even after White entered the boxing world, but increasingly the language became more critical.

Hearn took exception to White’s lobbying for legislation that would circumvent the Muhammad Ali Act, but things got even more heated after White signed Conor Benn, a fighter long-promoted by Hearn and Matchroom Boxing.

A war of words took place before, during, and after Benn’s signing with White calling Hearn a “p*ssy” and Hearn jabbing at White, saying Turki Alalshikh is White’s “papi.”
