You Can Now Play An Online Wikipedia Trading Card Game Where You Battle Articles Like Pokemon Cards

Trading card games have arguably never been as popular as they are today. Magic: The Gathering, despite recent controversies and regular community unrest, is as strong as it has been, Pokemon is seeing unprecedented sales (and scalping), and the likes of Lorcana, One Piece, Gundam, and Riftbound have all found audiences. Sure, the early 2000s had peak Yu-Gi-Oh and Digimon, but the rise of digital card games means that we’re truly in the best era for card game fans.

Never, ever in my life, though, did I expect that I’d be writing about a Wikipedia trading card game, which sees you collect and battle some of the site’s millions and millions of articles. Yet, here we are.

Wikipedia Gacha is, at its simplest, a browser-based Wikipedia trading card game. You get 10 free packs to rip each day, each containing five cards. These cards relate to a corresponding Wikipedia article. You can recover all 10 packs within 10 minutes, and after every 10 packs, you’re guaranteed a secret rare card in typical gacha game style.
