Senators’ Sanderson exits vs. Kraken with upper-body injury

Jake Sanderson suffered an upper-body injury late in the second period against the Seattle Kraken and was ruled out for the remainder of the game, the team announced.

The defenceman appeared to suffer the injury when he pinched in the offensive zone and took a big hit from Kraken defenceman Brandon Montour.

Sanderson immediately left for the locker room, favouring his right shoulder, and did not return.

Any significant injury to Sanderson would be a big blow for a Senators team that is trying to push for a playoff spot.

Sanderson, 23, entered Saturday’s game with 11 goals and 37 assists in 61 games. He is also fresh off winning a gold medal at the Winter Olympics with Team USA.

The Senators sit fourth in the Atlantic Division.
