Philadelphia Eagles Linked to Jarring Blockbuster Trade With Packers

Is a Jalen Carter trade inevitable for the Philadelphia Eagles?

Some feel Carter’s time with the Eagles may be coming to an end after the team signed fellow defensive tackle Jordan Davis to a contract extension over the weekend, and should Carter hit the trade block, there will be no shortage of potential suitors.

Carter just completed his third NFL season and is due for a new deal of his own this offseason, but it seems hard to imagine Philadelphia will provide him with one after handing Davis $78 million over three years.

The Eagles can exercise Carter’s fifth-year option for 2027, but that would cost them a hefty $27.1 million.

As such, A to Z Sports has concocted six potential trade packages for Carter, and one of them has Philadelphia sending the two-time Pro Bowler plus a sixth-round draft pick to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for Rashan Gary, Karl Brooks and a second-rounder.

“Green Bay has already sent its first-rounder in 2026 and 2027 to the Dallas Cowboys as part of the Micah Parsons trade, so sending another second is a hard proposition, but it’s for a really special player,” A to Z Sports wrote. “The combination of two solid players and a Day 2 pick, plus the cap space, can be enticing after all for Howie Roseman.”

Would the Packers really part with another key draft pick? Based on how conservative general manager Brian Gutekunst typically is, it seems unlikely, especially given how much Green Bay will eventually have to pay Carter.

That being said, adding Carter to what is an already impressive Packers defense would be huge … which is why I don’t really see the Eagles doing this.

Why would Philadelphia want to improve a fellow NFC contender? If Philly is going to move Carter, it will almost certainly be out of the conference, or at least to an NFC squad that doesn’t pose much of a threat.

The Eagles originally selected Carter with the ninth overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. Carter had two very strong seasons with Philadelphia to begin his career, but took a bit of a step back in 2025.

Regardless of Carter’s down year, he remains one of the league’s best interior defenders, and losing him would be tough.
