Guy Ritchie’s ‘In the Grey’ Trailer Unveils Henry Cavill & Jake Gyllenhaal Action Thriller

Former Superman actor Henry Cavill reunites with director Guy Ritchie, and teams up with Jake Gyllenhaal, for the explosive first trailer for the upcoming action thriller, In the Grey. The long-delayed film is finally being released later this year after facing several hiccups after production concluded in late 2023.
Black Bear has unveiled the official trailer for In the Grey, which is set to hit theaters on May 15. As the trailer suggests, the film follows a group of elite operatives tasked with stealing a billion-dollar fortune. Eiza González leads the pack, while Cavill and Gyllenhaal are at the tip of the spear of the operation. The trio embark on what appears to be a globe-trotting adventure, featuring Ritchie’s penchant for mixing comedic moments and hard-hitting action. Though the film has received several delays, In the Grey certainly seems like a sure-fire hit for those anticipating the reunion between Ritchie and Cavill after the underrated The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Check out the trailer below.
Alongside Cavill, Gyllenhaal, and González, the cast of In the Grey features Rosamund Pike (I Care a Lot), Fisher Stevens (Song Sung Blue), Jason Wong (Alex Rider), Emmett J. Scanlan (MobLand), and Carlos Bardem (Assassin’s Creed). Each of the three main stars have a history with Ritchie, as Cavill starred in the 2024 war comedy The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Gyllenhaal in the 2023 action thriller The Covenant, and González in the straight-to-streaming action adventure film Fountain of Youth, which dominated Apple TV’s charts after its debut in 2025. Read the official synopsis:
In The Grey follows a covert team of elite operatives who live in the global shadows, as comfortable wielding power and influence as they are automatic weapons and high explosives. When a ruthless despot steals a billion-dollar fortune, the team is sent to steal it back on what would be for anyone else a suicide mission. What begins as an impossible heist gets much worse, spiraling into an all-out war of strategy, deception and survival.
In the Grey has been one of Cavill and Ritchie’s most anticipated projects since it filmed in late 2023. However, it’s been an up-and-down news cycle for the action thriller ever since it entered post-production. Before landing at Black Bear, the film was originally meant to release on Jan.17, 2025, via Lionsgate. It was then removed from Lionsgate’s release schedule, shortly before the distribution rights were dropped by the distributor. With Black Bear in sole possession of the U.S. rights, In the Grey was scheduled to hit theaters on Apr. 10, 2026, before eventually landing its current May 15 date.
Though it has been a long wait In the Grey, Ritchie fans have been eating good in recent years on both film and television. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare may not have been able to make a dent at the box office, it has quickly become an underrated gem that regularly shows up on streaming charts. Fountain of Youth was a star-studded adventure tale that did not impress critics, but audiences ate up the Indiana Jones-inspired affair. On the small screen, Ritchie has The Gentlemen spin-off series on Netflix, and the acclaimed Young Sherlock series on Prime Video, which debuted earlier this month.
