Canada’s Alphonso Davies plays in Bayern’s Champions League match

Alphonso Davies’ return to game action did not last long.
Davies, 25, subbed in for Bayern Munich at halftime of a Champions League match against Atalanta on Tuesday.
It marked Davies’ first game action since he suffered a torn muscle fibre in his right hamstring on Feb. 21 in a Bundesliga win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
But after assisting on a goal in the 64th minute, the Canadian star pulled up injured in the 76th minute and was forced to sub back out.
It’s unclear what caused Davies to exit, as he went down after a short pass back to a teammate.
Davies previously missed nearly nine months with a serious knee injury sustained while playing for Canada last March.
His injury setback on Tuesday is also bad news for the Canadian men’s national team as preparation for the 2026 World Cup continues.
The Canadians are set to host Iceland on March 28 and Tunisia on March 31 during the upcoming international window at Toronto’s BMO Field.
Canada is co-hosting the World Cup with the United States and Mexico. The men have a yet-to-be-determined opponent for June 12 in Toronto, but will play Qatar on June 18 and Switzerland on June 24, both in Vancouver, in the group stage.
