Savannah State University mourns death of former president Dr. Earl Yarbrough

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Savannah State University announced the death of former president Dr. Earl Yarbrough, whose leadership and service helped shape the legacy of the institution.
The university said Yarbrough dedicated his career to advancing higher education and strengthening the mission of Savannah State University, Georgia’s first public historically Black college and university.

Legacy of service
University officials said Yarbrough’s commitment to student success, academic excellence, and community impact left a lasting mark on the campus and the generations of students who followed.
Savannah State University said it extends condolences to Yarbrough’s family, friends, former colleagues, and all who were touched by his leadership and service.
“The Savannah State University community honors his life, his contributions, and the legacy he leaves behind,” wrote the university.
