A’ja Wilson Was Just As Shocked As the Rest of Us at Bam Adebayo’s Stunning 83-Point Game

Bam Adebayo looked around one fine March evening and decided it was as good a time as any to have the game of his life.

On Tuesday night, the Heat big man scored 83 points, the second most in a single game in NBA history, in a 150–129 win over the Wizards in Miami.

How shocking was Adebayo’s big game? Even his girlfriend, Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson didn’t see it coming. Wilson was in the crowd in Miami, joining the rest of Heat Nation in going absolutely nuts for her boyfriend.

After the game, Wilson had the perfect response to her partner’s big game, writing on social media, “Welp won’t have the highest career high in the house anymore, but at least it gives me something to go after.”

Wilson also sat beside him at his postgame press conference, and had the perfect reaction when her partner gestured towards her as he mentioned that he’s seen other players get defended by four players before.

Bam: “It didn’t really start getting crazy until like I had to hunt for the basketball…you got 4 people guarding you. I’ve seen that before obviously”

It’s safe to say that no one saw this coming from Adebayo. His previous career high before this breakout game was 41 points, and there’s a good chance that he would have gotten plenty of blogs written up about him if he had just eclipsed the 50-point mark. No one sat down to watch the Heat on Tuesday thinking, “I wonder if someone will challenge Kobe’s 81-point game tonight?” and if they did, they were probably watching another game on their phone.

Congrats on making history. Let’s see how long Wilson lets the intra-relationship record stand.
