Bracketology Roundup for Kentucky Basketball

The Kentucky Wildcats began this season projected as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament in Joe Lunardi’s ESPN Bracketology before the season began. That feels like a lifetime ago.

FOX Sports’ Mike DeCourcy currently has Kentucky also at a No. 7 seed, along with fellow No. 7 seeds in Villanova, Saint Mary’s, and Georgia. DeCourcy’s projected No. 10 seeds are Missouri, Texas A&M, Central Florida, and NC State. If Kentucky advances to the Second Round, they could face any of UConn, Houston, Illinois, or Michigan State. To clarify, DeCourcy doesn’t have projected matchups or regions and where each team would play in the Tournament. He only has projected seeds.

On CBS Sports, Kentucky is projected as a No. 8 seed in the Midwest Region. They would face No. 9 seed Iowa, with likely No. 1 Michigan waiting in the Second Round.

Overall, the Bracket Matrix averages Kentucky’s seed to a 7.01, so a No. 7 seed, across 77 brackets. There are some that deviate towards a No. 6 or No. 8 seed, but most of the brackets on the matrix have Kentucky as a No. 7 seed.

FanDuel Sportsbook gives Kentucky +2700 odds to make the Final Four and to win the NCAA National Championship at +10000.

This is not where anyone envisioned Kentucky being in the NCAA Tournament. But the last time they were a No. 8 seed was in 2014. We all know what happened that year.
