FIRST ALERT: Severe weather is expected later this evening in the Pine Belt

The First Alert Weather Team has a First Alert Weather Day for Wednesday due to the threat of severe weather later tonight.

Severe Weather Threat (12:00 PM, 3/11/26)(WDAM)

WHAT TO EXPECT: A squall line is expected to move through the Pine Belt later tonight. Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph are still the main concern at this time, but a few brief, spin-up tornadoes and small hail cannot be ruled out.

Winds that strong can cause tree damage and power outages.

Heavy rain and frequent lightning will accompany the storms.

Latest Model Run (12 PM, 3/11/26)(WDAM)

TIMING: With current models and trends, the squall line is expected to move through the Pine Belt between the hours of 8 PM and 9 PM.

The line will move through the I-59 corridor around 11 PM.

Once the line reaches Alabama around 1 AM and 2 AM, the severe weather threat will be over for the Pine Belt.

MAIN THREATS (In Order of Concern):

  • 60+ mph Winds
  • Small Hail
  • Spin-Up Tornadoes
  • 8 pm Wed. – 2 am Thurs.
