Dan Skelton Cheltenham 2026 day four runners blog: ‘If he can’t win this Gold Cup, he will never win one’

Moneygarrow – 3.20 Cheltenham

Moneygarrow is my each-way outsider of the week. I feel like he has been a little bit overlooked. He has done nothing wrong. He stepped up to three miles last time and won well. The track will really suit him, his race style is really relaxed so he will get the trip around here, and he will be in with a big each-way chance.

Grey Dawning – 4pm Cheltenham

Grey Dawning is in the best form of his life. This is him at his absolute best and if he can’t win this Gold Cup, he will never win one. This year’s form has been significantly better than years gone by. He started in better form by winning at Haydock whereas the year before he got beat. He’s had a smooth run into the New Year, he was great in his prep run when he unfortunately made a mistake two out which cost him any chance of winning. But right now, everything is how we want it. The ground is nice and, in his favour, and he will never have a better chance of winning this than now. It is a very open Gold Cup. There are horses ahead of us in the betting who I thinkwe will beat, and there are horses ahead of us in the betting who we’ve got it all to do to beat .It is a very interesting race.

Charlus & Nurse Susan – 5.20 Cheltenham

We run two in the Martin Pipe. Charlus is relatively new to us. He had a run the other day and will enjoy the better ground. He doesn’t look the best handicapped, but a fast run race is what he needs. Nurse Susan didn’t raise a gallop at Fontwell the other day. She must have been in season. Her work at home since has been good. She is fresh, she is well, and she is coming into it in good track form really. Apart from that run, she’s in the best form that she’s ever been in at the track, so I think we can forgive that run. She has an each-way chance for sure.
