Statewide Silver Alert canceled after missing Salina woman found safe

SALINA, Kan. (WIBW) – A statewide Silver Alert was that was issued Thursday morning has been canceled after a missing Salina woman was found safe in western Kansas.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation announced late Thursday morning that 75-year-old Yvonne Pereirra-Mcwhorter had been found safe in WaKeeney, located 128 miles west of Salina on Interstate 70.

Officials earlier Thursday said Pereirra-Mcwhorter’s whereabouts were unknown, and the public’s assistance was requested to help locate her.

Pereirra-Mcwhorter was believed to be driving a blue 2025 Nissan Pathfinder bearing Texas tag 6YGPZ.

Before she was located, she was last spotted north of Norton on Thursday morning, March 12, officials said.

Pereirra-Mcwhorter was described as a woman who is around 5-foot-4 inches tall and weighs approximately 185 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes, and is known to wear a medical identification bracelet. She also is wearing a splint on her right hand.
