Man found dead in wheelie bin in Coventry as police issue urgent appeal

Police are urgently appealing for information after the body of a a man was discovered in a wheelie bin. The victim, who is yet to be identified, was found by a member of the public in Coventry.
The man, who is believed to be aged 40 to 50,was found in a Coventry City Council wheelie bin with a green lid in Cash’s Park off Daimler Road at around 5pm yesterday (March 13), West Midlands Police have said.
Officers have said they are working with the local authority to establish where the bin has been moved from. It’s believed the victim may have been hit by a vehicle, before being moved to the park, police added.

West Midlands Police said it is ‘carrying out urgent enquiries to establish who the man is, and where and how he died’. Officers are expected to remain at the scene today (March 14) to carry out enquiries.
Det Ch Insp Phil Poole, from our Major Crime Unit, said: “We are keeping an open mind, but we believe that this man has been hit by a vehicle, and then has been moved to the park.
“I urgently want to hear from anyone who believes they may have hit someone in their car yesterday, or who has noticed a change in behaviour from someone they know who drives, or who has noticed damage to a vehicle.
“It’s vital that we trace that person as quickly as possible so that we can get their account of what happened.
“If anyone in the area has found that their wheelie bin with a green lid has been stolen, I also want to hear from them.”
Anyone with information, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage from the area, has been asked to contact officers via 101, quoting log 4148 of 13 March.
