Angol ready to make an impact

New signing Lee Angol is looking to make an instant impact after arriving at Connect Management Stadium this week.
The forward joins the Sports having played the last few seasons in the EFL and is looking to play his part as Borough look to fight for survival.
“It feels good to get the deal done,” he said in his first interview.
“I’m aware of the situation that we’re in – I’m not confused or anything and I know what needs to be done; what energy I need to bring and try and help the team.
“I have reached a point in my career where I wanted a challenge. It’s not easy to walk into a building where a team are fighting relegation. I’ve been in relegation battles before and I’m hoping to take what I’ve learned from them and bring it here to help the team.”
The 31-year-old arrives having left Cheltenham Town in the winter, and in recent seasons has enjoyed spells with Morecambe, Sutton United, Bradford City and Leyton Orient.
But it was at Boreham Wood where he enjoyed his most prolific spell, scoring 25 goals in 39 appearances to earn a move to Peterborough United.
And it was whilst at Wood where he first came across boss Steve King – with Angol scoring a free-kick in the National League South Play-Off Final against King’s Whitehawk team.
“I knew him (King) a long time ago, so when this opportunity came up it all aligned.
“It’s a weird situation as there’s eight games to play for, and a situation I’ve never really found myself in before.
“But it’s a challenge and it’s one I’m ready to get behind.
“It’s bringing that experience from similar situations I’ve found myself in throughout my career and trying to bring that togetherness into the group.”
The Sports go into tomorrow’s game with Maidenhead United six points adrift of safety with eight games to go, but Angol knows that there is still plenty to play for.
“Togetherness is what is going to help us survive,” he added.
“Everyone needs to be on the same page and together – focusing on one game at a time. I know it’s a cliché, but every game is like a final for us now.
“As long as everyone’s together and focused on what we need to do, then I’m sure we will get ourselves out of this.”
