March Madness: ESPN bracketology ahead of SEC Tournament quarterfinals

Selection Sunday is just three days away, and with March Madness quickly approaching, things are becoming clearer as the SEC Tournament reaches its quarterfinal round on Friday.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has been busy the past couple of days keeping his bracketology updated with the latest results from the many conference tournaments currently in action. In his latest offering, two SEC teams have seen their stock slip: the Georgia Bulldogs, who slipped one seed down to No. 8 in the West, and the Texas Longhorns, who fell to a No. 11 seed in the West and are clinging for dear life.

The Florida Gators remain the top-seeded conference team with the No. 1 spot in the South and will face the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday afternoon.

Once again, no changes here as Florida remains the top tier with its No. 1 seed in the South, along with the Duke Blue Devils, who remain the No. 1 overall seed with their perch atop the East, the Michigan Wolverines in the Midwest, and the Arizona Wildcats in the West.

SEC schools in ESPN’s 2026 bracketology update

The Southeastern Conference maintained its 10-school count after two days of SEC Tournament play and now holds sole possession of the largest representation in the bracketology. The Big Ten lost one school and now has nine teams, while the ACC and Big 12 have eight apiece; the Big East and WCC both have three, and the Atlantic 10 has two, rounding out the conferences with more than one school included.

Florida remains the highest-seeded school in the SEC at No. 1 in the South, followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 3, Midwest), Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 5, East), Vanderbilt Commodores (No. 5, West), Tennessee Volunteers (No. 5, Midwest), Kentucky (No. 7, East), Georgia (No. 8, East), Texas A&M Aggies (No. 9, West), Texas (No. 11, West) and Missouri Tigers (No. 11, East).

Missouri and Texas are among the last four in, while the Auburn Tigers are in the first four out category.
