Rocker Sebastian Bach is saying sorry to former fling Christina Applegate after she wrote about their brief romance rather unfondly in her new memoir.
The Skid Row rocker, 57, told Billboard that he was “very surprised” when he appeared in headlines about Applegate’s new memoir You With the Sad Eyes, which told the story of when the actress ditched her date Brad Pitt for Bach at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards.
“I was a single guy on tour, in a band, and I met a lot of girls and I apologize if I hurt her… if I hurt anybody,” the musician said. “When you’re young you get thrown into the whirlwind of rock ‘n’ roll, meeting a lot of people and you better hold on tight. It’s like being on a roller coaster.”
Bach went on to say that their dalliance was “a long time ago,” and if “I hurt anybody, I apologize for it.”

In her memoir, Applegate, 54, wrote that she attended the VMAs with Pitt when she was 17, but went home with Bach after spending the whole night “staring” at him.
The Dead to Me actress included a diary entry in her book in which she wrote of feeling “out of control” after learning that Bach had a 1-year-old child.
“What a dick… I had really started to like him,” she wrote. “What do I always attract the ‘winners.’”
Applegate’s entry went on to say that she was grateful she hadn’t slept with Bach, and didn’t want to be his girlfriend, but was upset that he’d spent the night at her house and “befriended” her while having a long-term partner and child.
Bach and his ex Maria welcomed a son named Paris in March 1988. The couple went on to have two more children, and broke up in 2010. He married Suzanne Le in 2015, while Applegate has been married to Martyn LeNoble since 2013.
Back was recently announced as the new lead singer of Twisted Sister, with whom he’ll play a number of shows this fall following the departure of Dee Snider.
“What a feeling! I am in shock! I am the Lead Singer of Twisted Sister🤘” he wrote in his caption. “I keep saying that over and over to myself and anybody else who will listen today 🤩I am absolutely honored and overjoyed to pay tribute to the legacy of some of my favorite music and musicians of my whole life!”
Applegate, meanwhile, opened up about her book in a PEOPLE cover story, saying she was “being as honest and raw” as she possibly could.
The book spans from her tumultuous upbringing in L.A.’s infamous Laurel Canyon to teen fame, abusive relationships, motherhood and her own unique experiences with both breast cancer and MS, an autoimmune disorder that affects the central nervous system.
