Charles Johnson landed a tightly contested victory over Bruno Silva to kick off UFC Vegas 114 on Saturday.
Silva’s pressure proved to be too much for Johnson to overcome, as the Brazilian put ‘INNERG’ on his back foot for much of the three-round affair.
Johnson found a few moments of success, but Silva did an excellent job of staying in short enough range to attack, but just out of Johnson’s reach. As we approached the final minute, Johnson picked up the pace as Silva appeared to be losing steam.
Though the two delivered some exciting fireworks in the final minute, Johnson came up short of delivering a comeback for the ages inside the Octagon. But as it would turn out, he didn’t need it.
Official Result: Charles Johnson def. Bruno Silva via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28).
Eeking out a razor-close victory over Silva, Johnson improved to 8-6 under the UFC banner and has won two of his last three.
