Evacuation order issued in Sayre due to fast moving wildfire in the area

SAYRE, Okla. (KOKH) — UPDATE
The Beckham County Sheriff’s Office said emergency personnel have made all necessary evacuations at this time, and firefighters were able to stop the progression of the fire.
Crews are currently working to put out the fire. The Sheriff’s Office is telling residents to stay alert and follow the office’s app for further developments.
The Sheriff’s Office said any evacuees in need of a safe place can go to the Beckham County Barn.

The National Weather Service (NWS) and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management have issued a warning and evacuations for a wildfire north of Sayre in Beckham County until 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
Sayre Emergency Management has issued an evacuation order for residents north of the intersection of North 1880 Road and East 1170 Road. Officials are asking evacuees to move south.
A reunification center is being set up at Sayre Public Schools.
NWS located a dangerous wildfire 2 miles north of Sayre and said the fire is moving rapidly at about 3 to 5 mph.
The NWS is telling residents to follow all safety instructions from local emergency management officials and warning drivers to not drive into smoke.
OEM activated its State Emergency Operations Center due to critical fire weather and high winds on Sunday. The department said much of Oklahoma is under a Red Flag Warning with gusts of winds up to 65 mph.
