Lighting strikes tree, blows out windows, Davenport homeowner says

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – A Davenport home was damaged after lighting struck a tree Sunday afternoon, the owner said.

A homeowner told KWQC the lighting also blew out the windows of their home on the corner of Pine Acre Avenue and Middle Road.

Davenport firefighters went to the 3100 block of Middle Road near Pine Arce Avenue for a report of a tree struck by lighting around 1:40 p.m., according to a media release.

When crews arrived, officials said, they found a downed tree partially blocking the intersection.

Firefighters also determined several windows were damaaged at a nearby home due to the lighting strike.

No one was hurt, officials said.

Davenport Public Works crews helped remove the tree from the road and clear the intersection, officials said.
